Hey, everyone!
A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I was working on a course. Today I’m very excited to share that enrollment for the course is officially open!
I’ve put together a website with all of the course information including dates, times, curriculum info, FAQ, and a bunch more. You can find that here: 8020Cooking.com
The course is named after the 80/20 Principle, which states that a small number of actions drive the vast majority of results in a given system. In this course, I’m applying that principle to cooking. This course teaches you the foundational knowledge and practical skills that really make a difference with cooking.
Here’s a snippet of what I wrote on the course website.
You don't need recipes, exact measurements, or specific heat levels. You don't need a perfect kitchen setup or expensive cookware. In fact, you don't even need the exact ingredients or pots and pans a recipe calls for. All of this can be adapted.
What you need are techniques and frameworks that you can use as starting points, along with the ability to use sensory cues to guide you towards the outcome you want.
If you can pay attention, use your senses, and learn some basic fundamentals, you can cook INCREDIBLY well.
This course is designed to teach you those skills. You’ll walk away with foundational knowledge, practical skills, kitchen confidence, and a mastery of new dishes.
I’ve chosen the cohort model because I really believe that the best results come from active learning. This course has that— it’s time-bound, has built-in accountability and feedback, involves a strong community element, has lots of opportunities for guidance and a ton of direct involvement from me.
My promise is this— if you show up and complete the course work, you’ll walk away from this course confident in the kitchen, with the skills and knowledge to cook from a place of intuition and enjoyment. And you’ll have mastered some incredible new dishes to add to your cooking repertoire, covering everything from weeknight staples to impressive group dinners.
I sent out this announcement earlier this week to the email waitlist for the course, and I’ve been blown away at the response. I'm limiting attendance in the first cohort in order to keep the learning environment small and intimate, and I'm offering this cohort at a lower price point than I plan to offer it in the future. We’re more than halfway sold out, but there are still spots available! I’m planning to run another cohort in the fall, so don’t sweat it if the timing doesn’t work out.
If you have any questions at all, just reply to this email and I’ll be happy to answer them!
